Good stuff. You Parker fans take note: Stroby's novel has Stark's brisk lucidity and momentum. Protagonist Carissa Stone is, despite that last name, a lot softer and more humane than Parker. Still, the book zips past sentiment, sketches in fine sharp lines a sense of the career criminal's behavior (and ignores too much about motivations). I picked this up 'cause it was almost due at the library, thought I owed it a chapter, 'though I assumed it'd go immediately back into the return pile, and then spent every spare moment today finishing the thing.
