Franny K. Stein's Crate of Danger (Franny K. Stein, Mad Scientist, #1-4) - Jim Benton Big hit with the kid. And this hits a real sweet spot not just for him but for me (listening to him read): a perfect blend of semi-sciencey goodness along with crazy mad-sciencey hijinks, and a silly/snarky sense of humor that a) is just boogery enough to delight the boy but not bore me and b) refuses the painfully-obvious or expository for its humor, instead letting smart(ass) kids find their own appreciations of the smart(assed) humor.
